Governance Service Improvement Plan (GSIP)
Following a first-time inspection against new consumer standards, carried out between December 2025 and February 2026, Unity were awarded compliant ratings by the Regulator of Social Housing of C2 (the second highest grading for Consumer Standards, G2 (the second highest grading for Governance and V1 for viability (the highest grade).
What does the C2, G2, V1 assessment mean?
Inspections happen every three to four years to check how well housing providers are run, how financially secure they are, and whether they’re delivering safe, effective services to customers.
To arrive at their assessment, the Regulator:
*Spent a number of hours talking with our Senior Management team and board members.
*They observed a Tenant Scrutiny meeting and a Board meeting.
*They looked at our website.
In addition to this, we submitted a large number of documents to them to explain how the Board and Scrutiny Group CVG oversee how we deliver services to customers, manage Unity’s finances and make decisions about how Unity is run. They also receive information from us throughout each year which they used as part of the assessment preparation.
Unity’s Chief Executive Cedric Boston has written about the inspection in the Summer Newsletter. Unity was disappointed to receive a Governance regrade from G1 the highest rating to G2 the second rating as part of this process.
This means there are areas where we can do better in providing services to our tenants, and in reporting performance to our tenants about how we are performing. We are now working with the Regulator and the Board on a Landlord Improvement Plan. We have called this GSIP – Governance Service Improvement Plan.
We have included a copy of this on the download link at the side of this page and we will be reporting regularly on this so that you can see the improvements being made to our service delivery to you, Unity’s tenants.
